Missing actress Jaida Benjamin: a dreaded mental health crisis


Actress Jaida Benjamin, best known for playing Kelly on Netflix’s ‘Family Reunion’ and her appearances on HBO’s ‘Insecure’, has been reported missing after she was last seen in the Los Angeles area.

The 27-year-old, who sometimes worked as Jaida-Iman Benjamin, was last seen at the intersection of Tujunga Avenue and Ventura Boulevard in the Studio City neighborhood on Saturday February 19. according to a Los Angeles Police Department flyer.

Benjamin, who is believed to have bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, is listed at 5ft 3in and was seen wearing a purple crop top, pink jogging shorts and a pair of white sneakers.

While relatives of the North Carolina native have not been able to contact her for three days, the LAPD does not suspect any foul play at this time.

The Charlotte native’s mother, Jocinda Benjamin, implored the public for help in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Monday.

“Never thought I would have to do this type of post,” the distraught parent wrote. “My baby is missing, please help me find her. I can’t breathe. Meanwhile, Benjamin’s aunt Jihan Johnson Tweeted an LAPD flyer with updated descriptions of the missing actress.

Earlier this month, Jocinda posted a revealing message on Instagram detailing Jaida’s plans to take a break from showbiz.

“In light of the recent tragic news of multiple suicides, combined with our own mental health issues, Jaida and I have decided to take a much-needed break from the entertainment industry,” the self-proclaimed “momager” said on Feb. 2. . “We truly appreciate everyone’s love and support over the years and ask for prayers and positive thoughts during this difficult time.”
