Miss Thailand Anntonia Porsild has revealed that she feels happiest when she becomes a normal person – without makeup – at home.

The 27-year-old shared her preference in an interview with competition content creator Luis Portelles that was uploaded to her YouTube channel last Monday.

“When everything goes well, I’m a lot happier,” Porslid said, referring to the makeup and glamorous outfits she, as a beauty queen, is typically associated with.

“I don’t care what people say, I don’t care what people think. I feel more comfortable in my own skin and I feel like I can do anything,” Porslid continued.

Porslid then explained that while a beauty queen’s “makeup, hairstyle and clothes” can boost confidence, she doesn’t want her confidence tied to aspects that can be easily taken away.

She added that she tries to wear as little makeup as possible whenever she can because she wants people to see that “beauty queens are humans too.”

“We stay in bed and we are lazy too. Some days we also go shopping, some days we also do normal things,” she said.

“All the beauty queens that you support are all human, and I feel like sometimes people forget that,” Porslid added.

The Miss Universe 2023 competition took place on Saturday in El Salvador.

Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios was crowned the winner of Miss Universe 2023, while Porslid was named first runner-up in the pageant.

This is Thailand’s highest ranking in the Miss Universe pageant since 1988, according to the Bangkok Post.

If Palacios is unable to fulfill her duties as winner, which include representing the organization at social events and advocating for humanitarian causes, Porslid – as first runner-up – will take her place, per the competition rules.
