The Birmingham Rumble Ponies lived up to their name on Thursday night as they took on the Portland Sea Dogs in a savage brawl to clear a bench.
Teams pitched with the bases loaded late in the third inning after a batter was hit by a pitch.

For some reason, however, as the batter trotted toward first base, the pitcher lost his mind, screaming and gesturing wildly toward home plate. This caught the batter’s attention, words were exchanged and off we went!
It may well be that the pitcher thought the batter was faking it. Grabbing the arm or hand and grimacing is a common ploy to pull a blow-by-blow call from a referee, for those prone to such things.
Of more concern is the injured Rumble Ponies player being treated at the end of the video. No word was given on the player’s condition.
