PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) – A Florida man has been arrested for a crime of video voyeurism after a hidden video camera was found in a bathroom used by children at a Baptist church.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said David Patrick Nims, 37, has been charged with a count of video voyeurism by a person 18 years of age or older, who is responsible for the welfare of a child of under 16. This is a second degree crime.

Investigators said that on Sunday ECSO patrol officers responded to Calvary Baptist Church on Pine Forest Road in Pensacola after receiving a report of a surveillance camera hidden inside one. bathrooms. Investigators assigned to ECSO’s special victim support unit immediately opened an investigation and identified Nims as the suspect, according to ECSO.

Nims is a volunteer director of youth ministries at the church.

Investigators also served a search warrant on the 7400 block of Hidden Valley Road as part of the investigation.

The case remains under investigation and additional costs are possible, according to the authorities.
