Mikel Arteta hints at other signings as he reveals Arsenal transfer plans

New signings Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko started in the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on the opening night of the Premier League season, with Matt Turner on the bench and Fabio Vieira out through injury.

The focus at the moment for Arsenal seems to be on exits, with Bernd Leno joining Fulham and Lucas Torreira set to complete a move to Galatasaray.

Links with Youri Tielemans and Lucas Paqueta continue however, with the midfielder likely to be the favored position should the Gunners choose to step up again. A move for Tielemans in particular looks a real possibility, with Leicester in need of selling players but reluctant to see James Maddison and Wesley Fofana leave.

Speaking to Sky Sports after his side’s win at Selhurst Park, Arteta revealed plans are in place for Arsenal to continue with their summer activities but it remains to be seen if that can be achieved.

“We will try, there are a few things we have planned,” Arteta said.

“If we can do them that would be great, but now it’s working with the players we have, we’re already in the middle of the season.

“The focus should be on the players we have to get the best out of them.”

Asked by Jamie Carragher if he wanted to name names, Arteta joked, “Not yet – you’re in the running!”
