Mike Richards is now executive producer of “Jeopardy

The news comes after a turbulent month for “Jeopardy!” in which Richards was first named his new host, and then resigned about a week later amid controversies that began over his name in multiple discrimination lawsuits. The Ringer had also surfaced derogatory comments he made on a podcast, for which he apologized.

Suzanne Prete, Executive Vice President of Business and Strategy at “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune,” emailed staff on Tuesday.

“We were hoping that when Mike stepped down as host at Jeopardy! It would have minimized the disruption and internal difficulties that we have all experienced in recent weeks,” Prete wrote. “This clearly did not happen.”

Prete said in his email that Michael Davies will temporarily help with the production.

“Michael and I will be working with all of you in the coming weeks to make sure production stays on schedule and we don’t miss a beat as we head into the new season,” Prete wrote. “I know it has been a difficult time for the whole team, and I want to thank all of you for your cooperation and professionalism over the past few weeks.”
