Migrant infant, toddler left to die in Arizona desert by cartel smugglers, feds say

Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents rescued a baby and toddler after smugglers abandoned them in the desert. Authorities said the smugglers left the babies to die in the desert.
Tucson Area Chief Patrol Officer John R. Modlin tweeted a report revealing officers had to provide emergency medical care to an infant and toddler left to die in the desert mountains of Sonora.
The children were 4 months and 18 months. Officers discovered that the infant was unresponsive; fortunately, we were able to revive her and avert a tragedy. The insensitivity of the smugglers cannot be underestimated. 2/

“Yesterday smugglers left a baby and toddler to die in the Sonoran Desert,” Chief Modlin said. “It’s cruelty. And it’s heartbreaking.”
Officers found the children in the Sonoran Desert after smugglers left them behind. Modlin reported that the babies were between four months and 18 months old.
When officers arrived, the baby was unconscious, the sector chief said. Officers provided emergency medical care and resuscitated the baby girl.
“The heartlessness of the passers cannot be underestimated,” he said.
The rescue of the two abandoned babies comes shortly after three children drowned in the Rio Grande in Texas, Breitbart Texas reported. A toddler and a five-year-old child drowned Monday in border crossing incidents at Eagle Pass and El Paso.

The three-month-old brother of the toddler who died in the Eagle Pass incident died days after the crossing incident. The parents of the three children survived the crossings.
Border Network for Human Rights founder and executive director Fernando Garcia said the El Paso drownings followed the drowning deaths of 20 other migrants in June and July – in El Paso alone, the New York Post reported.
What you don’t see is an outcry in America – why do children have to die? Garcia told the newspaper.
Arizona Border Patrol officials did not release the nationalities of the two abandoned babies or any information about the parents.
