Police arrested a Miami woman who they said was wanted for using rented luxury and exotic cars to lure men, drug them and steal their expensive watches.
One of its most recent victims is a man who woke up in Mount Sinai Medical Center after being found unconscious outside a Miami Beach hotel on June 4, Miami Beach Police said.
The 29-year-old transgender woman, who police identified as John Cecil Collins, was arrested Wednesday and held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of robbery, sudden kidnapping theft and possession of cocaine. Records show that there was also an arrest warrant against her.
His spate of crimes dates back to at least February, according to his affidavits of arrest. Miami Police said Collins found most of his victims in bars and nightclubs in Brickell and downtown areas.
Miami Police say they would approach men who wore expensive watches and give them a ride in their luxury or exotic rental car. At one point, police said Collins would give them a drink or a drug, causing them to pass out.
The men would then wake up hours later and notice their watches had been stolen, Miami police said. Regarding the June 4 incident in Miami Beach, the arrest affidavit does not say if anything was stolen from the man.
Detectives believe there are more victims and ask anyone who has been through something similar or knows anything that can help the investigation to contact them.
