Mesut Ozil laughs at his brilliant response when asked what it was like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo
It’s been almost a decade since Mesut Ozil and Cristiano Ronaldo played together at Real Madrid.
That hasn’t stopped fans from asking Ozil what it was like to play under one of the greatest footballers of all time. But now it looks like the midfielder has crafted a perfect answer to this frequently asked question.
Footage posted on social media shows Ozil, who now plays for İstanbul Basaksehir, being approached by a fan.
The fan behind the camera asks the former Arsenal midfielder what it was like playing under Ronaldo – who turns 38 this Sunday – when he was at Real Madrid with him.
Without looking at the fan and the camera, Ozil quickly replies, “Ask him, he played with me.”
And the former Gunners ace was clearly very impressed with his answer to the question he’s no doubt been asked countless times over the course of his career.
After he finished his sentence, a smile broke out on his face as he and those around him laughed at his response.
Ozil and Ronaldo played side by side in Spain from 2010 to 2013, after the former joined La Liga from German side Werder Bremen.

The former Los Blancos star assisted 31 of Ronaldo’s goals at the Santiago Bernabeu in their 149 games together, showing their pair’s brilliant understanding on the pitch.
Since their time in Spain together, Ronaldo has continued to have spells with Juventus and former club Manchester United, before signing for Saudi club Al Nassr in January following the mutual termination of his contract at Old Trafford. Ronaldo scored his first goal for Al Nassr on Friday.
Meanwhile, Ozil continued playing for Arsenal and Fenerbahce, but also had his contract mutually terminated at the Turkish club, before moving to Istanbul Basaksehir.
And is also set to see his current deal end prematurely, with reports suggesting he ‘wants to quit football’.
