Mercedes F1 technical director James Allison will step down in July, the team has confirmed.

In a significant reshuffle for the sports world champions, Allison – the highly respected designer and engineer who has helped Mercedes achieve unprecedented success since joining Ferrari in 2017 – will cease daily technical operations and move into a more strategic strategy. , and newly created, role of technical director.

He will be replaced as Technical Director by Mike Elliott as of July 1.

“I firmly believe that people have a lifespan in senior roles in this sport, and I have chosen to step down from my role as Technical Director in order to hand over the baton at the right time for the organization and myself,” Allison said.
