SAO PAULO, April 19 (Reuters) – Mercadolibre Inc MELI.O and Brazilian airline Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA GOLL4.SA announced on Tuesday a 10-year logistics partnership for the transport of goods in the South American country.
As part of the agreement, Mercadolibre will exclusively use six Boeing 737-800s belonging to Gol FBC aircraft, with the possibility of adding six more aircraft to operations by 2025, the companies said.
OOperations are expected to start in the second half of 2022.
OWith the deal, Gol said it expects its logistics unit GOLLOG to add 100 million reais ($21.43 million) in revenue in 2022 and 1 billion reais over a five-year period.
The airline also said it will save around R$25 million in 2022 and R$75 million in 2023 through the partnership as it updates its aircraft fleet.
Mercadolibre said it plans to increase its air freight transport in Brazil to 40 million packages per year from 10 million currently.
