Men’s Golf Preview: Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men’s golf hosts the Seahawk Intercollegiate, its only home tournament of the season, which begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

The tournament will take place over two days with 36 holes on Sunday and the final 18 on Monday.

The Seahawks won their last outing, capturing Forest Creek Collegiate by 11 shots over Davidson and VCU, who were tied for second. The win marked UNCW’s second top five in as many tournaments. Earlier this month, the Seahawks finished fifth at the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner.

Keying that recent success has been sophomore Walker Isleywho after posting his first career top five at the Tiger Invitational, took medalist honors at Forest Creek with a one-stroke win over teammate Drew Hacket.

Top 100 programs from 15th-ranked Kansas and 89th-ranked Wright State are the tournament highlights this weekend.

The tournament will be played at Landfall Country Club and will feature the Pines and Marsh nines of the Nickalus Course. The par will be 72 and the course measures 6,960 yards.

UNCW has won the last two editions of the tournament and boasts four victories in the event’s 10-year history. The Seahawks set a tournament record in 2021, finishing 26 under par for a 21-stroke win.
