Mendy sends heartfelt farewell message to Petr Cech after legend leaves

The former goalkeeper, 40, left his role as technical and performance adviser this week as part of the club’s overhaul since taking over from Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

After working with Cech since joining Chelsea in September 2020, Mendy sent a heartfelt farewell message on social media.

He tweeted: “I want to thank you for all the moments, all the training and all the learning that we have shared together. Thank you for your trust.

“I wish you a bright future in your next challenges.”

Mendy posted photos of him and Cech hard at work on the training ground and celebrated the trophy win.

After Cech’s departure, he said: “It has been a huge privilege to play this role at Chelsea for the past three years.

“With the club under new ownership, I feel it is the right time for me to step down. I am happy that the club is now in an excellent position with the new owners, and I am confident of its future success on and off the field.
