The suspect, who was also a postal worker, died of a gunshot wound he apparently inflicted on himself, according to Lisa-Anne Culp, spokeswoman for the FBI’s office in Memphis.
There is no ongoing threat and the East Lamar carrier annex is secure, according to the Memphis Police Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service,
“We are working in conjunction with the Memphis Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. At this time, there is no additional information that the Inspection Department can release.” , said the US Postal Inspection Service.
USPS officials said they would provide resources to workers at the facility in the coming days.
“Our hearts go out to family members, friends and colleagues of those involved,” they said in a statement.
