CLEVELAND (WJW) — After several years of downsizing, gourmet sandwich chain Melt Bar and Grilled has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to court filings.
This comes after the company closed its Cedar Point location in May and shuttered locations in Dayton, Canton, Independence, Avon and Cleveland Heights.
Owner Matt Fish previously said the pandemic reinforced the local chain’s decision to scale back operations.
The bankruptcy was filed in federal court last Friday, with total liabilities ranging from $1 million to $10 million, according to the filing. The company reportedly has between 100 and 199 creditors.
The original Melt location opened in 2006 in Lakewood.
FOX 8 reached out to the company directly for comment on the bankruptcy. It’s not yet clear what this means for the remaining Melt sites or their employees.
