Mauricio Pochettino at Manchester United: PSG expect formal approach as Red Devils prepare £ 10million compensation to immediately land former Tottenham manager

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing for a formal Manchester United approach for Mauricio Pochettino, according to talkSPORT.

The 49-year-old has become United’s main managerial target after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking last weekend.

He now appears to be getting closer to a return to the Premier League, with the Ligue 1 club ready to listen to a United offer.

Representatives for Pochettino have indicated that the Argentine is ready to leave Paris now to land his dream job at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are expected to pay the Ligue 1 club around £ 10million in compensation for the former Tottenham boss.

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is the main contender to replace Pochettino at Parc des Princes if he returns to English football.

The Argentine wants a return to England for a number of reasons.

He is not happy with his lack of control over transfers to PSG, with sporting director Leonardo in charge of transactions in the market.

He also wants to be closer to his family, who still live in London after leaving Spurs in 2019, and believes he has unfinished business in the Premier League.

Legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly leading the charge to bring Pochettino to the club.

He left Spurs in November 2019, just months after losing the Champions League final to Liverpool, and after a year-long absence he returned to take over Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he had a tough first six months at Parc des Princes, finishing second in Ligue 1 behind Lille and suffering a Champions League loss to Manchester City in the semi-finals last season.

However, his side are on the run this season as they are 11 points ahead of Nice, second after 14 games.
