“Since I started at the club it has improved a lot on and off the pitch. I think to continue to be part of it is great.

“I think at the start of last year we weren’t a team that many believed to be top of the table. But, internally, we were really confident.

“It’s a great group of guys, we all play for each other and we all enjoy each other’s company.

“Although we have made a lot of progress on the pitch, off the pitch it is just as strong. The club is in a very good position and the fans are great, they deserve success and I hope we can bring it.”

Hull KR managing director Paul Lakin added: “Matt has been integral to our progress over the past two seasons and is an important player in our continued development.

“There was genuine interest in the NRL, so we’re delighted Matt has signed up for a further two years.”
