Matt Hardy Hints at Former WWE Champion Joining AEW

Matt Hardy has once again teased a reunion with his brother Jeff in AEW. The former WWE Superstar declined to confirm the rumors circulating, but added that the duo will soon be working together.

Jeff is a free agent right now after being released by WWE. The former champion has a non-compete clause due to expire next month; once that’s done, he can sign with any promotion.

Speaking on this week’s “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” Matt hinted at another hint of a Hardy Boyz reunion. He hinted that the tag team would work together again soon, but did not confirm if it would be in All Elite Wrestling. He said:

“Jeff’s non-compete clause runs until March 9, so from March 10 he will be free to do anything and then he can negotiate with someone or work for another big company that has television, no matter what,” Matt Hardy said. “Do I think Jeff Hardy might end up coming to AEW and teaming up with Matt Hardy again? As they say in the wrestling world, never say never. Anything is possible. We will definitely work together. And we’ll see if the planets align and have the opportunity to once again become the greatest team in all of space and time.” [H/t WrestlingNews]

Matt Hardy Teases Former WWE Star Jeff Hardy Joining AEW

All of the Elite Wrestling stars teased a possible debut for Jeff Hardy this week, but the former WWE superstar is still in the middle of his non-compete clause.

Matt Hardy previously confirmed his brother won’t be making an appearance on Dynamite this week, but he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of Jeff joining Tony Khan’s promotion soon.

“I don’t think that’s the guy coming to AEW this Wednesday against Isiah Kassidy,” Matt Hardy said. “Although, who knows? Tony Khan, Papa Khan has a lot of money. Maybe he bought it out of his contract and he’s coming early. Who knows? The 90 Day Final was supposed to be on March 9. March 10, he’s a free agent.” (H/T Combative)

Jeff’s non-compete clause in WWE expires on March 9, and based on these recent clues, we may soon see Team Xtreme working together.
