Two tries from Abby Dow had helped the visitors establish a 17-15 advantage before the game was plunged into darkness.

After a break of around 20 minutes, the referee called the game off with England on the brink of victory due to more than 60 minutes of play.

England jumped into the game on a high after beating the French in London last Saturday to claim the Six Nations title.

England fought for a third straight Six Nations title with a 10-6 victory over France at the Twickenham Stoop.

Dow hurtled down the wing to cancel an early try from France, then summoned another superb individual effort as England took a 14-12 lead at the break.

A French penalty put the hosts back ahead, but Zoe Harrison regained the lead towards England before the spotlight denied the match a grandstand finish.
