Maruti Suzuki’s April sales fell more than 5% to 150,661 units

Sales of Maruti Suzuki India Limited decreased by 5.6% in April with the total sale of 150,661 units compared to 159,691 units in the same month last year.

Total sales in April 2022 included domestic sales of 126,261 units, sales to other OEMs of 5,987 units and exports of 18,413 units, the company said in a statement.

In April 2021, the company recorded domestic sales of 137,151 units, sales to other OEMs were 5,303 units, and exports were 17,237 units.

The company said the shortage of electronic components had a minor impact on vehicle production, mainly domestic models, and the company had taken all possible measures to minimize the impact.

Sales of the company’s domestic passenger vehicles, including vans and utility vehicles, in April 2022 were down 10% on an annual basis to 121,995 units.

Among them, Maruti sold 76,900 passenger cars in April 2022, compared to 98,926 units in April 2021.

The company’s total domestic sales (passenger vehicles + light commercial vehicles + OEM) fell 7% to 1,32,248 units from 1,42,454 units in April 2021.

The automaker sold 17,137 units of Mini (Alto, S-Presso) in April 2022 compared to 25,041 units in the same month last year.

In the Compact category (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, WagonR), the company sold 59,184 units last month, compared to 72,318 units in April 2021.

However, sales of commercial vehicles including Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga rose 33% to 33,941 units from 25,484 vehicles in the month a year ago, the company said.
