Martyn Ford wants to make MMA debut after Iranian Hulk boxing fight fails

Martyn Ford hopes to make his MMA debut later this year after his proposed boxing match with ‘Iranian Hulk’ was canceled.

Ford was supposed to take on his nemesis – real name Sajad Gharibi – at London’s O2 Arena last month in a card that was also to feature Patrice Evra and Jamie O’Hara, as well as podcast host James English.

Martyn Ford and the Iranian Hulk will not fight

‘The World’s Scariest Man’ recently revealed that he called off the fight due to fears for the mental well-being of Gharibi, who appeared to be struggling since the pair clashed in a one-on-one to Dubai.

Ford is still keen to fight but isn’t sure when the boxing opportunity will come again, so plans to fight in the MMA promotion KSW, which he was signed to before the pandemic.

“I plan one hundred percent to get involved in MMA,” Ford told Mirror Fighting. “I’m already talking to KSW. This is something that was put in place before covid.

“I’ve been doing some Jiu-Jitsu bits and stuff again. They’re planning to come to London in October, and that’s an event I’d love to attend.

The bodybuilder and actor is looking for a potential opponent and insists he is just as frustrated as the fans that he hasn’t competed yet after so much talk about it.

“It just has to be the right person and the right time, my feelers have been deployed to try and get this in place as soon as possible,” Ford said.

“I understand people’s frustration at not seeing me fight yet. I’m still training, the only thing I don’t do is active sparring. I came back to his resilience and explosive power.

“If something happens and I hope I can sign up too soon, I have trained and put so much time and effort into it.

“I have to do it for my own mental state, to be honest. Anyone who has trained to a good standard in any sport will understand the frustration I am going through right now.”
