Martin Keown claims Tottenham are ‘favourites’ to secure Champions League football as Arsenal sit fourth

Invincible Arsenal Martin Keown says his former club are not favorites to finish in the top four, but claims fierce rivals Tottenham are.

The club legend believes they have tougher games ahead, despite being six points clear of Antonio Conte’s side.

Arsenal’s form has been impressive of late with six wins from their last seven in the Premier League, but Keown believes they won’t cross the line.

A 1-0 win over Aston Villa courtesy of a Bukayo Saka strike gave the Gunners another Premier League win.

It meant they cemented their place in the top four and increased their lead over Champions League qualification rivals Manchester United, West Ham and Spurs, with the latter two playing each other on Sunday.

Ten games from the end, Arsenal know they are in an excellent position to return to Europe’s premier competition.

However, Keown believes his old side will fail and believes his north London rivals will benefit.

“There are a lot of games to play, and I always put Spurs among the favorites to be in the top four,” he told BT Sport.

“Arsenal are in the box, I know, but when you watch the games, the games at Chelsea, the Spurs. It’s hard.

With Harry Kane now appearing to be regaining good form, his goals could be a huge boost for Spurs in their quest for the top four

“It’s in Arsenal’s hands and if they keep playing the way they do they will, but it’s a long way to go.”

While Keown has his doubts, he was full of praise for how Arteta’s side have developed over the season.

“It was about Arsenal rebuilding their reputation because you’ve been doing it for many years. If people know you’re soft to the touch, they think at some point you’re going to fall,” he said. he adds.

“Now people have a taste of Arsenal. They realize that they are stronger and completely different. They play this nice and constructive football, but they are also resilient.

Arteta’s side are also proving to be badass after keeping 13 clean sheets in 28 Premier League games so far

“Gabriel at the back was nice and strong with Ben White at his side. Partey in midfield never really ventured too far.

“So it’s good in those departments and all over the pitch, you have people doing their job, knowing their roles and responsibilities, with the ball and without, perfect.

“They get the job done and knock it out with three points in the bag.”
