Mark Hamill plays Luke Skywalker to deliver air raid warnings in Ukraine

Actor Mark Hamill has joined a growing line of Hollywood stars seeking to insert themselves into the Ukrainian conflict with his voice, bringing together the sonic gravity of a Jedi knight, now used on an air raid app to warn incoming attacks from Russia.
“Attention. Air raid alert. Head for the nearest shelter,” says Hamill on Air Alert, an app linked to Ukraine’s air defense system.
When the threat is no longer within reach, the 71-year-old American screen veteran simply signs off with, “The alert is over. May the force be with you.”
All the while, his delivery is in character as Luke Skywalker, reports The Verge, adding that some of the lines contain recognizable quotes from the star wars candor like “Don’t be careless. Your overconfidence is your weakness.
Some of the Hollywood vocal patterns can be heard in the following video from around 56 seconds in:

The actor says he is in awe – from afar, in California – how Ukraine has “shown such resilience…in such terrible circumstances”.
His fight against the Russian invasion, now in his second year, reminds him of the star wars saga, he says – of brave rebels fighting and ultimately defeating a vast murderous empire. Speaking out on the English version of the air raid app and giving it his “Star Wars” twist was his way of helping.
“A fairy tale of good versus evil resonates with what is happening in Ukraine,” Hamill said in an interview with The Associated Press.
“The people of Ukraine are rallying to the cause and responding in such a heroic way… It’s impossible not to be inspired by how they weathered this storm.”
This isn’t the first time Hamill has seen fit to play a part in this bloody conflict.

As Breitbart News reported, five months ago he put his hand in his pocket to send funds to buy 500 drones for Kyiv to take on various military and civilian tasks against the invading Russian forces. who, according to him, represent “the evil empire”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced last September that Hamill had been named ambassador for the “Army of Drones” project of the country’s fundraising platform UNITED24.
More recently, actor Orlando Bloom flew to Kyiv in his own personal show of support for the Ukrainian leader.

“Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Mark Hamill for supporting the Ukrainian people since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
