Mariah Carey Didn’t Speak to Her Sister Before She Died

Mariah Carey reportedly was not in contact with her sister Alison in the last month of her life despite being told she was dying, a friend of the singer’s late sister has claimed.

Dave Baker, who said he was friends with Alison for many years and helped care for her at the end of her life, spoke about Alison’s final days in an interview with The Sun.

“Alison was upset that her ‘little sister’ had cut off all contact with her,” Baker told the outlet.

“She talked about it a lot. She wondered if Mariah or any of her family would come to her funeral. I was told there was a memorial service planned for a later date, but nothing yet.”

He also claimed that Carey “never tried to contact Alison, even after learning a month ago that Alison was dying.”

“A phone call or, better yet, a video call would have meant a lot to Alison,” he said. “But it never came.”

Baker criticized Carey’s reaction to her sister’s death. “And now Mariah is heartbroken over the loss of her mother and her ‘ex’ sister,” the alleged friend added. “This cruel rejection has added even more pain to Alison’s pain.”

According to Baker, “Alison was on home palliative care for the last three weeks of her life” and “had a problem with her internal organs.”

Remembering Alison, he shared: “Underneath a tough exterior, Alison was a very intelligent, warm and sensitive person.”

“I’ve known her for nine years,” he continued, “and as a friend, and in these last few months I will miss her very much.”

Alison’s struggle with addiction has reportedly been a sticking point for Carey, with sources telling TMZ that the singer “put up a wall” because she felt she needed to show “tough love” to her sister and not let her get away with it. According to sources, the “Always Be My Baby” singer has previously tried to support her sister both emotionally and financially, but without much success.

Although she reportedly wasn’t in touch with her sister in the end, Carey spent the last week with her mother, Patricia, as she lay dying, TMZ reported.

From the information available, it appears that Alison and Patricia died at the ages of 63 and 84. The causes of their deaths are not yet known.

The Post has reached out to Carey’s representative.

Following the deaths of her sister and mother, Carey released a statement on Monday, August 26, saying, “My heart is broken to have lost my mother this past weekend.”

“Unfortunately, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” Carey added.

“I feel blessed to have been able to spend the last week with my mother before she passed away. I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this difficult time.”

Carey detailed her difficult relationship with her family members in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.” Shockingly, she accused Alison of drugging her with Valium when she was just 12 years old.

Alison then sued her famous sister, claiming that she had “intentionally inflicted immense emotional distress through the heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and completely unnecessary public humiliation of Defendant’s already deeply injured older sister.”
