Marc Cucurella at Man City set to collapse with Brighton asking for £50m as Arsenal wait to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko

Manchester City have told Brighton they are unwilling to meet the £50million asking price for Marc Cucurella, according to talkSPORT.

City had an initial offer of £30million for Seagulls left-back Cucurella rejected.

Brighton are not actively looking to sell the Spain international this summer.

City full-back Zinchenko is set to join Arsenal in a deal worth £32million – and the Premier League champions have already turned their attention to a replacement for the Ukrainian.

Zinchenko to Arsenal is almost done and City’s struggle to land their first-choice alternative shouldn’t cause any delays.

Cucurella is highly rated by City boss Pep Guardiola after being voted Players’ Player of the Season and Player of the Season at Brighton’s end-of-season awards last season.

But, despite City’s struggles to land their main target, Guardiola appears calm about the situation, insisting he has plenty of options in the position.

“If that doesn’t happen, we have alternatives,” the Spanish coach said after his side’s pre-season win over Club America in Houston.

“Joao Cancelo, Josh Wilson-Esbrand is a young talent, Nathan Ake can play there.”

Cucurella, 23, signed a five-year deal for Seagulls Getafe in August 2021 and immediately settled in the Premier League.

He made headlines for breaking down in tears after scoring his first goal for the Seagulls in a 4-0 win over Manchester United in May.

Explaining the celebration, Cucurella said: “Coming here was difficult in the summer, a new league, a new country and a new language.

“It is now very exciting for me and my family; when we arrived my son was 10 days old. He traveled with me when I changed cities. It’s very special.
