Manly Kieran Foran joins Gold Coast Titans, two-year deal

The Gold Coast Titans are set to land veteran playmaker Kieran Foran next season, with the Kiwi star reportedly agreeing to a two-year deal in a major coup for the club.

According to Nine NRL reporter, Danny WeidlerForan will travel to the Gold Coast for a contract worth $750,000 over two seasons.

The 31-year-old, who was part of Manly’s winning squad in 2011, returned to the Sea Eagles last season after stints with the Eels, Warriors and Bulldogs.

Foran has played 246 NRL games to date, including 33 appearances for Manly in his last stint after injuries hampered his tenure with the Bulldogs between 2018 and 2020.

News of Foran’s impending departure follows pressure on the club to determine the future of young star Josh Schuster.

Weidler revealed last month that the 21-year-old’s management had warned the Sea Eagles about his position in the squad.

Schuster, who came through the ranks as a five-eighth last season, played as a striker as part of Manly’s deadly left-edge combination alongside defending Dally M Medal winner Tom Trbojevic.

His move to the backline was due to coach Des Hasler’s decision to hand veteran Foran the fifth-eighth jumper.

Schuster, who picked up an ankle injury during pre-season, has recorded just one appearance this season after 21 appearances in 2021.

“Recently Stephen Humphreys, the CEO of Manly, who left the club – he had final contract negotiations with Josh Schuster over Schuster playing five rounds for the Sea Eagles,” Weidler revealed last month.

“There was a promise made that this is where he would play. His family was told the same.

“An email has now gone from Schuster’s management company to Manly management, who are now in charge, reminding them that he was going to play five-eights.”
