Manish Sisodia’s bail request in liquor policy case rejected by Delhi court

New Delhi:
A City Court on Friday rejected the bail application of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case over alleged irregularities in the preparation and the implementation of Delhi’s liquor policy.
The former minister said he would challenge the bail denial order in higher court.
Manish Sisodia is currently in police custody and is due in court on April 3.
Party leader Aam Aadmi, in his bail application, had said that no fruitful purpose would be served to keep him in custody as all the recoveries in the case have already been made.
The former education minister even pointed out that he was joining the investigation as and when requested by the CBI.
“If he is released on bail, it will scuttle and jeopardize our investigation because influence and interference are significant,” the CBI said in opposing the plea.
Mr. Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 for alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of alcohol policy.
Separately, the Directorate of Law Enforcement (ED) has also launched an investigation into the Delhi alcohol scam, alleging money laundering. He arrested Mr. Sisodia on March 9.
The AAP denied all charges and said the investigation was the BJP’s attempt to settle political scores.
