The agencies said Lee was missing during a late morning prisoner count and a subsequent emergency count determined Gillespie was also missing. They added that both were last seen on prison surveillance video on Monday morning.

Gillespie had been serving time for murder at the facility since 2016 and Lee had been there since 2021 for burglary and safecracking.

The ODRC said it was also conducting an internal investigation.
