Eriksen arrived at the club’s training ground in Carrington for the first time on Tuesday morning, along with summer compatriot Lisandro Martinez.

It looks like the 30-year-old had a busy first day as he tried on his new kit, posed for photos and sat down for an interview as he was officially announced as a Man United player later the same day.

Martinez has yet to be spotted in the United kit, after the club announced a deal to sign the Argentine defender from Ajax on July 17.

But, after being photographed in the passenger seat of Eriksen’s car, it seems only a matter of time before his move is also made official.

Eriksen has signed a three-year deal with the Red Devils after his short-term contract with Brentford expired.

The Bees were one of the only clubs willing to take a chance on the Dane after his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020, with Inter Milan forced to let him go due to Serie A rules.

But he proved his fitness and that he can still perform at the highest level during a hugely impressive six-month spell in west London, earning a big transfer to Old Trafford.

Brentford made a bid to keep him, amid further interest from Tottenham, where Eriksen shone in seven years.

But the player has revealed the role new manager Erik ten Hag – with the pair sharing an Ajax connection – played in his decision to choose United.

Asked why he chose the Red Devils, Eriksen replied: “First of all, football.

“I mean, I’m a guy who wants to play football and I think, with the idea of the manager coming in and the ideas he had, and also with my conversations with him, I mean I could see myself playing football in Manchester.

“And, at the same time, it’s a very, very big club, if not the biggest one. If you say it anywhere, they know where it’s coming from, they know where the locals are coming from.

“He has a great history and it’s a nice feeling to be part of something so important in history.”

Asked about the importance of Ten Hag’s influence, the Dane replied: “Very. I want to come here to play football, I don’t come here just for the logo itself, I want to come here and play.

“Obviously speaking with the manager and hearing his ideas and having conversations with him about the terms of football, it was great and ideal for me to get the decision and the opportunity to come to Manchester United.

“I think my style of play hopefully matches his ideas and hopefully it’s something that will connect in a good and positive way.

“So, of course, his style of football, I think suits me.”

Eriksen could make his first Man United appearance this weekend, as Ten Hag’s side play two games in two days.

United will continue their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday, before returning home to face Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford on Sunday.
