Manchester United talks to Ralf Rangnick about interim manager role

anchester United are in talks with Ralf Ragnick over the prospect of appointing him as the club’s interim manager.

Michael Carrick won his first game against Villarreal on Tuesday but, with so much to play for this season, it looks like United are looking to bring in an experienced coach to accompany them until the end of the campaign.

No final deal has yet been reached, but talks are underway with the former Leipzig coach, head of sports and development at Lokomotiv Moscow, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss ongoing discussions.

The vacant managerial post was opened up to United by the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday. Rangnick could only be in charge until the end of the season.

Rangnick, who had a profound impact on Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann, previously oversaw managerial roles at RB Leipzig, Schalke and Hoffenheim before moving to a behind-the-scenes role in the Russian capital earlier this year.
