Manchester United set to sign 16-year-old Cardiff striker Gabriele Biancheri as striker ‘completes medical this weekend’

Manchester United appear set to complete the signing of another striker in January from Cardiff wonderkid Gabriele Biancheri, 16.

Biancheri is believed to be attracting interest from various clubs and was courted by Chelsea last summer.

Biancheri set to move to Old Trafford aged 17 in September

The youngster will sign a professional contract on his 17th birthday in September and already had a medical with the club at Old Trafford last weekend, the Daily Mail report.

He has scored 17 goals and provided five assists across different age groups during this season and it has caught the attention of many.

Biancheri currently represents Wales at youth level – making three appearances for his Under-17 side – but also has an Italian background and is eligible to play for them if he wants.

He came through the youth ranks at Cardiff City, making his U18 debut in the FA Youth Cup tie earlier in the season and was also part of the U21s.

Manchester United can only sign players aged 18 or under due to Brexit regulations. Hence, they look for the best domestic talents and consider Biancheri as one of them.

This winter they have already signed a striker in the form of Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley as they look to add to their senior options following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in November.
