Manchester United set to earn £12m from sale of forgotten 26-year-old star: Reports

Manchester United have reportedly found a new home for underprivileged midfielder Andreas Pereira.

The 26-year-old, who has been on the sidelines at United after leaving the youth team, was recently sent on loan to Brazilian side Flamengo and Serie A side Lazio.

At Flamengo, Pereira has scored five goals in 24 appearances, and if the reports are believed to be true, he could finally leave Manchester United.

Universo Online report that Pereira is set to move permanently to Flamengo. A fee of £12million is reported, most of which is said to be paid upfront and the rest in instalments.

Flamengo verbally agreed #mufc buy 75% of the economic rights of Andreas Pereira. A deal could reach up to 14 million euros. The rest of the transaction will be paid in individual and team add-ons #mulive [@brunoandrd]

The transfer will likely be a relief for United and Pereira as the club are stuck with a large number of players on their books who are not in the squad.

£12million isn’t a bad price for a player who has never played in the Old Trafford squad and the move will also give Pereira the chance to get some regular playing time.

The midfielder’s record at Manchester United isn’t great, he managed just two goals in 45 appearances for the club, with his strike against Southampton in 2018 being his biggest moment for the club.

Ahead of a huge summer for the club, the need to offload talent is of utmost importance to whoever is in charge in June.

One of the first issues to be resolved will be the future of France midfielder Paul Pogba, whose contract expires in June. The player is yet to reveal whether he is ready to sign a new proposed deal or leave.

Rangnick on Pogba’s future: “I’m happy to have him back in the team. His contract expires this summer and if, in the end, he wants to stay or go somewhere else, he has to show up.” 🔴 #MUFC“It’s in his personal interest that he plays at the highest level,” he said.

Meanwhile, Juan Mata, Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly and Brandon Williams could all see their United careers end in the playoffs.

Jesse Lingard is almost certainly on the way out with his contract expiring at the end of the season and rumors of tension between the player and the club.

Edinson Cavani must make a decision on his future at the end of the season, with the striker having been linked with moves to Barcelona or Boca Juniors.

Star man Bruno Fernandes was recently linked with a move to Barcelona but he was quick to deny those rumors and a move seems unlikely given his contributions to the club.
