Manchester United were at their best on Saturday and Jamie O’Hara admitted their performance reminded him of the glory days under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils sent Newcastle completely 4-1 and Cristiano Ronaldo, who received a heroic welcome for his return to the Theater of Dreams after 12 years, capped his second debut in style with two goals.

Bruno Fernandes and Jesse Lingard also scored sublime goals, with Paul Pogba securing two assists to continue his dazzling start to the season.

There was something different about United on Saturday – Ronaldo not only did business on the pitch, he appeared to have ingrained a new level of confidence in his teammates as they put the Magpies over the sword.

And the attractive brand of football featured has won over former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara, who wants to see the Red Devils claim the Premier League title now that the football phenomenon is back.

Speaking at Monday’s talkSPORT breakfast, O’Hara went lyrical about United’s performance.

“I have never been so excited to watch a game for a very, very long time and it was like Man United of old,” he said.

“It was nostalgic. It really was. I grew up and Man United were the best team back then along with Ronaldo and Rooney.

“It was almost like I was seeing it again, I really enjoyed it.”

O’Hara insisted Ronaldo looked as good-looking as ever, even at 36, and was reinvigorated by his return to Old Trafford.

“I watched him at Juve and he was very sort of, not static, but very in and around the box. put at the end of the centers, score penalties, ”he added.

“For Man United, he was everywhere. He’s loved there and knows what it’s like to play at Old Trafford, it’s his home.

“The way he passed the players, cut the players, showed his pace. I was thinking ‘wow’, 36 years old. It was amazing to watch.

He added: “It seemed like old Man United was back.

“I have to say I know I’m a Spurs fan, but Spurs aren’t going to win the league.

“I actually want Man United to win the league because that nostalgic feeling I had has been brought back to watching them.”
