Manchester United opens contract talks with Paul Pogba, talks on Jadon Sancho continue | Football news

Manchester United have opened talks with Paul Pogba’s representatives on a new contract, while talks with Borussia Dortmund over Jadon Sancho’s transfer continue.

Pogba is set to enter the final year of his contract and will be able to negotiate with clubs outside the Premier League from January ahead of a possible free transfer in summer 2022.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has repeatedly fueled speculation about his future at Old Trafford. Speaking at the end of last year, he said the midfielder was “unhappy” with the club and needed to change teams.

However, the 28-year-old then took to social media where he denied allegations about any United leaving, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also slammed Raiola for his provocative comments.

Meanwhile, United remain in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the transfer of England international Jadon Sancho.

There remains a gap in the assessment, but talks “are reportedly moving in the right direction” and all parties are more optimistic that a deal will be reached this summer compared to last year.

Personal conditions shouldn’t be an issue after they were finalized when United tried to sign Sancho last summer.

United remain the “most realistic destination” for Sancho – although other clubs remain interested.
