Manchester United win race to sign Ruben Neves for £ 35million this summer.
The Wolves midfielder has been closely linked with Arsenal in recent weeks as Gunners boss Mikel Arteta considers a replacement for Roma-linked Granit Xhaka.
But talkSPORT’s Alex Crook claims United are in pole position to sign Neves, who is a Portuguese teammate to Old Trafford stars Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot.
“Neves is another player Mikel Arteta is watching very closely, but the track seems to have cooled down there due to a move to Arsenal,” Crook told talkSPORT host Jim White.
“Wolves have their price tag, £ 35million, and they’re willing to do business to try and generate funds for their new manager Bruno Lage.
“Liverpool has been mentioned to me, but there is a definite interest from Manchester United.
“Ruben Neves is a Portuguese teammate of Bruno Fernandes and he is actively trying to push Neves towards Old Trafford.
“They want another midfielder regardless of Paul Pogba’s future at the club.”
Neves, who has three years of contract left at Molineux, is currently on vacation following his Euro 2020 exploits but is expected to return for pre-season training soon.
The 24-year-old joined Wolves for £ 15.8million from Porto in 2017 and led them to promotion to the Premier League in his debut season.
Neves continued to be a regular midfield starter as Wolves secured a seventh consecutive top-flight spot, as well as a race to the Europa League quarter-finals.

With the emergence of Morgan Gibbs-White and other central midfielder options in Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker, now might be the time for Wolves to cash in on their star man.
Neves could be a possible replacement for Paul Pogba, who has less than a year on his contract with Manchester United.
The French midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain which could land him for just £ 43million this summer.
