Manchester United fans plot against Glazers for Liverpool clash as supporters vow to ’empty Old Trafford’ after clash postponed to May 2021

Manchester United fans plan to protest against club ownership in the upcoming home clash against Liverpool.

Anger against the Glazer family is at an all-time high amid a disappointing summer transfer window and a disappointing 2-1 loss to Brighton on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Old Trafford saw some unsavory scenes on Sunday with protests reportedly prompting the closure of the club shop and fans pictured brawling in the stands.

Now ‘#EmptyOldTrafford’ has started trending on Twitter as fans prepare to boycott the North West derby with Liverpool on August 22.

One wrote: “Enough is enough. #VideOldTrafford #GlazersOut #GlazersSellUnited »

Another said: “If you like Manchester United, stay out of Old Trafford. Worth it guys #GlazersSellManUtd #EmptyOldTrafford”

And a third to add: “My seat will be empty for the Liverpool game! Let’s make it happen, the time is NOW!! #EmptyOldTrafford”

It comes 15 months after the same game was abandoned when hundreds of United fans stormed Old Trafford in protest at the Glazers’ 17-year tenure.

Former director Michael Knighton recently revealed that he is planning a hostile takeover bid to try to put fans out of their misery.

The 70-year-old, who served on United’s board between 1989 and 1992, said: “Everyone knows we need a new owner for this football club.

“That’s my goal, those are my goals.

“I’m making good progress, I keep talking to people, I have good promises with good funding.

“We are currently working on the offer document – remember, this is a hostile offer.”
