New season, new manager… still the same Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag’s first 45 minutes couldn’t have been worse as they lost 2-0 to Brighton.
Cristiano Ronaldo was named as a substitute and they probably could have finished him on the pitch.
It was a disastrous performance from United, with Brighton playing them out of the park in the first half.
The Seagulls took the lead after 30 minutes when Scott McTominay lost the ball in the visitors’ half.
Leandro Trossard played a through ball to Welbeck, whose reduction across the box from six yards was driven home by Pascal Gross at the far post.

United were again torn apart in the 39th minute when the ball was transferred easily after a downward motion near Brighton’s corner flag.
It took just four passes to move the ball into United’s penalty area from where Trossard crossed from the right for Gross to score at the far post.
Unsurprisingly, there was a fierce reaction at half-time with United players booed off the pitch.
Ten Hag has a huge task ahead to turn things around at the break.
talkSPORT’s Micky Gray was at Old Trafford to report on the game and gave his verdict on what he saw in the first 45 minutes.
“What Manchester United are doing, they’re everywhere,” said the former Sunderland man.
“I haven’t seen any evidence of the Erik ten Hag revolution at Manchester United. They were absolutely atrocious.
