Manchester City vs Chelsea LIVE: FA Cup semi-final latest score and goal updates as Nicolas Jackson misses big chance

Man City ‘exceptional’ against Real Madrid despite Champions League elimination, says Guardiola

The dream of winning back-to-back trebles is over for Manchester City following their Champions League penalty shootout defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday. Now, Pep Guardiola’s side must focus their efforts on the remaining domestic matches as they hunt for silverware this season.

They currently sit top of the Premier League, after Liverpool and Arsenal dropped points last time out, and are favorites to regain their title while today’s outing sees them aim for a place in the FA Cup final . It is the seventh time in eight seasons that City have made the semi-final stage, although they have only progressed twice in their last six attempts.

Standing in their way this afternoon are Chelsea, led by Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues have reached three of the last four FA Cup finals (but won none) and beat Everton 6-0 on Monday night with former City player Cole Palmer scoring four goals. The striker will be crucial in Chelsea’s bid to overcome their rivals today, having already enjoyed success against his former club earlier in the season.

Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

60 minutes: Jackson runs flawlessly again! But this time, Walker runs back and manages to pass his body to Jackson, who falls to the ground. Walker took a chance, but he seems to have gotten it right.

59 mins: The strange thing about this Chelsea penalty appeal is that if Michael Oliver didn’t see that Grealish had given away a corner, how could he decide it wasn’t handball?

It should probably be sent to the instructor.

56 minutes: Penalty?! Oh, Jack Grealish could be in trouble here… Palmer hits a free kick from distance and it hits Grealish into the wall. But Grealish’s arm was on the outside and that’s where the ball struck as he went out for a corner.

Michael Oliver has his hand in his ear… but there is no criticism!

I think Grealish is very lucky because there is an argument that his arm is not in a natural position to block this free kick.

It’s not even given as a corner. Weird.

53 minutes: SAVE! A great save from Petrovic to deny Foden! A clever ball returned to Foden allowed him to strike a first-time shot. Foden catches it well, but Petrovic matches his weak effort as it skims the surface. A good stop to his right.

On second viewing, Foden could have done better and found the corner. However, it was City’s first shot on target.

Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

48 minutes: TWO HUGE CHANCES for Jackson! Both failed!

Chelsea should be leading 1-0 and Pochettino won’t believe that’s not the case. Jackson was initially slid to the left, but couldn’t get past Ortega. Then Palmer created a brilliant chance for Jackson at the far post, but his header was straight at Ortega again!

I have to say Walker slept on both.

Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

47 mins: A strange start to the half for City as Ortega misses his clearance, giving Madueke the opportunity to strike on goal. It’s wide.

Walker also caught Gallagher, indicating that City had not yet woken up for the start of the second half.

Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

And we’re back on the road!

A place in the FA Cup final against Manchester United or Coventry City is up for grabs.

Or will City be taken to extra time for the second time in four days?

HALF TIME! Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

A change for City at half-time: Ruben Dias replaces John Stones.

HALF TIME! Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

The biggest chance of the half. We’ve already seen it from Jackson this season.

HALF TIME! Manchester City 0-0 Chelsea

Everything is square and no goals at Wembley.

The half was lively, with both teams having their moments.

But Chelsea are in the game and will be happy with what they have done so far.

Few shots on target, but plenty of chances: Jackson had the best of them but failed to test Ortega.
