The striker made the most of a brilliant Brentford start, breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute when Ben Mee came back through the box and Toney sent a looping header over Ederson and into the net.
City shouted loudly for a penalty disallowed for a handball before equalizing on the stroke of half when Kevin De Bruyne’s corner kicked in and Phil Foden netted a superb half-volley for his eighth league goal of the season.
City piled up chances to score in the second half but Toney fired home to complete a stoppage time counterattack and secure a stunning win for Brentford.
