Man United’s Raphael Varane issues injury update with France set to announce World Cup squad

The centre-back is in a race to be fit for the World Cup as the Blues look to defend the trophy they won in Russia four years ago after suffering a hamstring injury against Chelsea last week .

United manager Erik ten Hag subsequently ruled Varane out for his club until after the Qatar tournament, but playing for his country remains a possibility.

Varane has since spent time at the famous French training base of Clairefontaine. Posting footage on Instagram of himself going through a rehab program, Varane wrote, “Thank you all for the kind messages this week. Got it working! Feeling great. Good luck today boys @Manchester United !”

France head coach Didier Deschamps is due to confirm his squad for the World Cup by November 13, with the country’s first group match taking place on November 22 against Australia.
