Paris Saint-Germain are preparing for a formal Manchester United approach for Mauricio Pochettino, according to talkSPORT.
Pochettino representatives have told United the Argentine is ready to leave Paris now to land his dream job at Old Trafford.
United are expected to pay around £ 10million in compensation for the former Tottenham boss.
The Red Devils had originally planned to hire a transition manager until the end of the season but are reassessing after being alerted to Pochettino’s willingness to take over immediately.
Michael Carrick is unsure how long he will be interim manager for Manchester United after replacing sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference for the United Champions League clash against Villarreal, he said: “I am preparing the team and I will do my best.

United executive vice president Ed Woodward could delay his departure from the club.
Sky Sports claim Woodward could help oversee United’s transition with a new interim boss and then a permanent boss.
Woodward was due to step down at the end of this year after the club’s controversial attempt to join the breakaway European Super League failed.
Neither Woodward nor the club have commented further on his future since then.
Frenkie de Jong
United reportedly want Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong to replace Paul Pogba if the Frenchman decides to leave.
Pogba’s contract expires at the end of the season and there are currently no signs of any new terms of agreement, with the midfielder supposedly asking the club for double his salary of £ 290,000 per week.
And according to The Independent, Dutch star De Jong could be his replacement at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the most promising young players in football at Ajax, alongside Donny van de Beek, who can now no longer play for United.
De Jong, meanwhile, has been a regular Barca holder since his £ 65million transfer from Ajax in 2019, but the Catalans have declined in those years and currently find themselves in debt of £ 1billion. .
Despite signing De Jong with vision to place the Dutchman at the center of the club’s future, it is now believed that the Spanish giants would accept a £ 75million offer for the highly rated midfielder, in order to lift funds.
United are set to sell the England midfielder for £ 10million in January, according to the Sun.
West Ham have been barred from a permanent move for Lingard this summer as the Red Devils have insisted they want £ 25million.
The 28-year-old has made just eight appearances – and a lone League Cup start – under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
Sevilla are said to be confident of retaining Jules Kounde this winter, but are reportedly ready to discuss the defender’s next summer.
Marca reports that Manchester United are interested in signing Kounde.
Kounde has a £ 69million release clause at Sevilla, but Marca claim the club believe no one will activate him in January.

According to Fichajes, Milan have yet to meet Kessie’s £ 150,000-a-week wage demands and that could see him leave at the end of the season.
