Although the club have yet to name a new manager, he continues to be linked with a slew of major transfers.

So what are the latest rumors and headlines on how United could turn around their scorching season? talkSPORT.com takes a look …

Mauricio Pochettino

Paris Saint-Germain are preparing for a formal Manchester United approach for Mauricio Pochettino, according to talkSPORT.

Pochettino representatives have told United the Argentine is ready to leave Paris now to land his dream job at Old Trafford.

United are expected to pay around £ 10million in compensation for the former Tottenham boss.

The Red Devils had originally planned to hire a transition manager until the end of the season but are reassessing after being alerted to Pochettino’s willingness to take over immediately.

Michael carrick

Michael Carrick is unsure how long he will be interim manager for Manchester United after replacing sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference for the United Champions League clash against Villarreal, he said: “I am preparing the team and I will do my best.

“I know the boys and the club very well. This club has been my life for a long time now, so it’s the sacrifice and dedication that you have to give.

“I’m ready to do it for as long as it takes, whether it’s one game, two games or a little longer than that. So far, I’m not too sure. It’s not in my head.

Ed woodward

United executive vice president Ed Woodward could delay his departure from the club.

Sky Sports claim Woodward could help oversee United’s transition with a new interim boss and then a permanent boss.

Woodward was due to step down at the end of this year after the club’s controversial attempt to join the breakaway European Super League failed.

Neither Woodward nor the club have commented further on his future since then.

Frenkie de Jong

United reportedly want Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong to replace Paul Pogba if the Frenchman decides to leave.

Pogba’s contract expires at the end of the season and there are currently no signs of any new terms of agreement, with the midfielder supposedly asking the club for double his salary of £ 290,000 per week.

And according to The Independent, Dutch star De Jong could be his replacement at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the most promising young players in football at Ajax, alongside Donny van de Beek, who can now no longer play for United.

De Jong, meanwhile, has been a regular Barca holder since his £ 65million transfer from Ajax in 2019, but the Catalans have declined in those years and currently find themselves in debt of £ 1billion. .

Despite signing De Jong with vision to place the Dutchman at the center of the club’s future, it is now believed that the Spanish giants would accept a £ 75million offer for the highly rated midfielder, in order to lift funds.

Jesse Lingard

United are set to sell the England midfielder for £ 10million in January, according to the Sun.

West Ham have been barred from a permanent move for Lingard this summer as the Red Devils have insisted they want £ 25million.

The 28-year-old has made just eight appearances – and a lone League Cup start – under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.

Jules Koundé

Sevilla are said to be confident of retaining Jules Kounde this winter, but are reportedly ready to discuss the defender’s next summer.

Marca reports that Manchester United are interested in signing Kounde.

Kounde has a £ 69million release clause at Sevilla, but Marca claim the club believe no one will activate him in January.

But the LaLiga side are open to discussions over the 23-year-old at the end of the season if United are seriously interested in paying.

Chelsea want Kounde last summer, but Marca claim they “haven’t even come close” to a sufficient offer.

Fichajes now claims Sevilla are considering a blow for Cavani and United could use the veteran striker as a burden in a deal.

Franck Kessie

Manchester United are reportedly looking to secure a free transfer from AC Milan star Franck Kessie next summer.

According to Fichajes, Milan have yet to meet Kessie’s £ 150,000-a-week wage demands and that could see him leave at the end of the season.

The Ivorian international’s current contract expires in June and he is free to chat with other clubs and sign a deal this winter.

United are among the teams eyeing Kessie with the Red Devils in desperate need of reinforcements in the midfield.

Phil jones

Newcastle are keen on loaning United and England defender Phil Jones after returning from injury, the Sun report.

The Magpies have joined Watford as two Premier League sides in the race to land the center-back – who hasn’t played since January 2020.

A total of 13 clubs, including a slew of league teams, are excited, as is Wayne Rooney’s Derby, but Pride Park’s finances would make a deal difficult to close.

Jones has two more years on a £ 130,000-a-week contract with United.

Aurélien Tchouameni

United are reportedly stepping up their interest in Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouameni and may move for him in January.

Football Insider claims that club scouts have been watching Tchouameni regularly in recent weeks.

And the Red Devils are said to be ready to make a deal for the 21-year-old if their talent watchers are impressed enough.

Football Insider adds that Tchouameni is being considered to replace Paul Pogba at United midfielder.

The former Bordeaux ace, who already has five caps in France, is under contract in Monaco until the summer of 2024.
