This summer could be Manchester United’s biggest for a long, long time.
Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford is set to see the playing squad change massively with a number of ins and outs expected.
United saw six first-team players leave after their contracts ended, including Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.
However, many other members of the current squad could also find themselves pushed out the door to make way for new players.
But who could replace them? Well, talkSPORT.com decided to take a look at the biggest Manchester United transfer rumours…
The likes of Anthony Martial, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dean Henderson and Eric Bailly will be moved on as Ten Hag looks to make his mark.
Anthony and Frenkie de Jong
United manager Ten Hag is set to sign two of his former Ajax players, Antony and Frenkie de Jong, according to talkSPORT.
A move for De Jong from Barcelona has long been mooted, and now Brazilian winger Antony could be set to follow Ten Hag from Amsterdam.
talkSPORT’s Alex Crook said: “I think United are definitely for Antony.
“His numbers for much of the season were decent, I think he missed the end of the campaign injured but obviously he’s someone Erik ten Hag knows well.
“There has been talk of a £40m offer for him, certainly my sources at United haven’t strayed far from those rumors so I think Antony is a target.
“I actually got a text from someone else saying if he didn’t become a Manchester United player this summer I would be surprised.
“I think right now he and Frenkie De Jong look like two definite arrivals at Manchester United and are two players that Ten Hag clearly trusts and believes he can get the most out of.”
United and Tottenham have been boosted by news that Eriksen has turned down a contract extension from Brentford.
The Danish midfielder made a miraculous return to football in January after suffering cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at the Euros last summer.
He scored once and provided four assists during his six-month spell in west London, which meant a host of clubs were keeping tabs on the 30-year-old.
Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has revealed that Eriksen turned down an offer to extend his stay with the Bees.
Pedulla says the Dane plans to join a Champions League club although he wants to remain a Premier League player.
Nottingham Forest have launched a bid to sign Dean Henderson from United this summer.
Accordingfabrice romanothe offer is for a loan switch to a permanent deal worth £20m next summer.
The 25-year-old enjoyed hugely successful loan spells with Shrewsbury Town and Sheffield United, where he helped the Blades secure promotion from the Championship before seeing them finish ninth in the Premier League in 2019/20.
Given the Red Devils have conceded 57 Premier League goals – four more than Burnley – they would probably need to improve the defence.
The Daily Express reports that Torres’ agents are traveling to Manchester to broker a deal with the Red Devils for the 25-year-old to leave Villarreal and move to Old Trafford.
Despite reaching the Champions League semi-finals, the Yellow Subs have financial problems to worry about and they have put Torres up for sale.
He will cost around £45m but could be a central part of United’s defense for years and years to come.
Another player who worked under Ten Hag before that could go to United is Timber.
JournalistJonathan Shragerreported that Timber’s agents were in Manchester to hear the Red Devils’ plans.
Timber made his debut through Ten Hag and he would add versatility to United’s defence.
Shrager added in a separate tweet that the Red Devils were the favorites to sign Timber.
The date has been set for Paul Pogba to complete his return to Juventus.
The Manchester United star, who left the Red Devils for Turin in 2012, will see history repeat itself when he joins the Italian giants on a free transfer after agreeing a verbal agreement on a return – rejecting an approach from Man City in the process.
A club statement confirmed the news earlier this month, saying: “For a boy who joined the Academy at 16 to make over 200 United appearances and lift the Youth Cup, plus two silverware majors – not to mention the World Cup at the international level – is something that should be applauded and celebrated.
“Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his brilliant career and thank him for his contribution to Manchester United.
“We wish him all the best for the next stages of a remarkable journey.”
