Man threatens Topeka woman with chainsaw after crashing into her home

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A man is in jail after driving his truck into a North Topeka mobile home and threatening residents with a chainsaw.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, the Topeka Police Department said officers were called to 1819 NE Burgess Ct. with reports of a possible hostage situation.
Along the way, officers said they were told by dispatch that multiple calls had come in reporting that a mobile home trailer in the area had been hit by a vehicle.
Following the investigation, TPD said 20-year-old Jayden Robert Evans of Topeka was incarcerated at the Shawnee Co. Dept. of Corrections for Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Child Endangerment, Criminal Threat, Felony Criminal Damage to Property.
The owner had told 13 NEWS that she was in the kitchen at the time of the incident and it felt like an earthquake. She is still unable to enter the trailer to retrieve her belongings as she is unstable. She also noted that Evans threatened her with a chainsaw after hitting her at home.
The landlord claimed that Evans alleged that she and her fiancé had held her daughter hostage.
The investigation revealed that there were no actual hostages in the situation and only minor injuries were reported.
