People Nearby Warn DaBaby

“You just have to be a jerk to test DaBaby, you just have to be,” said Anthony McCullah, who works nearby.

“Working around this area, it’s obviously quite secure. To go out there and get in the way and get to it, you just write your own death sentence,” Anthony’s brother Melvin McCullah said.

“He has a big, big, good, decent amount of land up there. If someone broke in, it would take a good day or a day and a half to find them. And always to test DaBaby, you’re a model,” Anthony said.

A sign posted outside the Grammy-nominated rapper’s home reads, “We’ve got guns and shovels.”

Ongoing investigation

Police do not say who pulled the trigger or whether it was justified. According to the police, the man who was shot did not enter the house.

The police chief says it all happened on DaBaby’s property but outside the mansion.

“It’s a large property, on the side of the road, there’s a fairly tall concrete wall and it’s surrounded on the other side by a fairly tall chain-link fence,” the police chief said. Troutman, Josh Watson.

He wouldn’t say if DaBaby knew the man who was shot.

People are being questioned and evidence has been collected, police said. They will present this to the district attorney who will determine if charges are filed.

Queen City News continues to seek additional information.

This isn’t the first time DaBaby has been involved in a shooting.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was involved in another shooting incident in 2018 at a local Walmart.

In 2018, 19-year-old Jaylin Craig was fatally shot at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina. Police said a fight broke out before the incident.

In an Instagram video, the rapper said he was shopping for clothes for his daughter but never said a fight took place.

“Two guys surprise you and your whole family, threaten you all, attack you all, let me see what you’ll do,” DaBaby said in the video. “When the story comes out and the pictures come out, [it] I’ll show you how I was there with my 1 year old daughter and 5 year old grandma, buying my baby some extra winter clothes. A guy sees me shopping for baby clothes and wants to show me how tough he is.

A misdemeanor concealed weapon charge against the rapper was dropped after a key witness, a Walmart employee, failed to appear in court. Walmart security footage of the incident was also not shown in court, but Craig’s family said it showed Jaylin trying to defuse the argument.

Craig’s family told Queen City News they were devastated when the charges were dropped.

“We feel like we didn’t get justice. For the guy to look at us in court with a smirk, like he won this battle,” his mother Lawana Horsley said.

DaBaby did not speak to the media when he left the courtroom in 2019 after his charge was dropped.

The district attorney said at the time that no further charges would be filed in the fatal shooting.
