A man was robbed by a machete-wielding suspect Sunday night in Irving Park on the North West Side.
The 52-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk of the 3700 block of North Troy Street around 9 p.m. when the suspect approached him and asked for his property, Chicago police said.
The suspect, believed to be a man dressed in black and between the ages of 21 and 25, attempted to swing the machete at the man, knocking him to the ground, police said.
He then threw his wallet on the street to distract the suspect and entered the passenger side of a nearby gray car, officials said.
He was treated by paramedics at the scene and refused further medical attention.
No one was in custody.
