Man hit in head and thrown onto train tracks at West Side CTA Green Line – NBC Chicago stop

A man is recovering from being shot in the back of the head and thrown onto the train tracks at a CTA Green Line stop on Saturday night on the city’s West Side.

Police say the 50-year-old was on the platform at the Cicero Green Line stop at around 9.37pm when he was approached by an unknown person.

This man pulled out a knife and struck the victim in the back of the head, causing a slight puncture wound. The suspect then pushed the victim onto the train tracks, causing him to break his elbow.

The suspect then fled and the victim was able to safely climb back onto the platform, police said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was listed as in good condition.

No suspects are in custody and Chicago police are investigating the attack.
