A 35-year-old man battled two would-be armed car thieves in Chicago’s North End on Wednesday night, police say.
At 10:40 p.m. in the 5100 block of North Glenwood Ave., a 35-year-old man was in an alley removing items from his car when he was approached by two unknown gunmen, it said. the police.
According to officials, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and punched the victim in the head while the other suspect climbed into the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
At that time, the victim attempted to pull the suspect out of the car while pushing the man away with the gun, police said. As a physical altercation ensued, an unidentified woman arrived on the scene and fired at the vehicle. The three suspects then fled on foot.
No injuries have been reported and detectives are investigating. Police say the male suspects may have exited a white sedan before approaching the victim.
In two other similar incidents on Chicago’s North Side, CWB Chicago reports that on Tuesday, two more attempted crimes were thwarted after the victims fought back. In the first incident on Tuesday morning, a victim pulled a knife on two potential robberies during an assault. In a second incident on Tuesday night, a woman pepper sprayed two gunmen who were trying to rob her at gunpoint.
