Pep Guardiola is without Kyle Walker who is banned and Ruben Dias will miss the first leg of the quarter-final with still over a week to go before returning.
Guardiola said ahead of the win over Burnley that the defender’s hamstring injury had still not cleared up, putting him near the end of his initial four to six week spell out.
Cole Palmer is also missing with a foot problem and the City boss gave no further reason for concern when speaking to the media on Monday afternoon.
John Stones returns to defense after being named to the bench on Saturday. The centre-back missed both of England’s games during the international week with a muscle problem. Nathan Ake is also a starter and could be moved to left-back with Joao Cancelo at right-back.
Gabriel Jesus was lively on the bench at Turf Moor but keeps his place among the substitutes, while Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez return to the starting XI.
Starting XI: Ederson, Cancelo, Pierres, Laporte, Ake, Rodrigo, Gundogan, Bernardo, Mahrez, De Bruyne, Sterling
