Jack Grealish marked his Champions League debut with a goal and an assist as Manchester City beat RB Leipzig 6-3 in an entertaining encounter.
Pep Guardiola’s side got off to a perfect start in their Group A campaign as Grealish crossed for Nathan Ake to come home (16) before Nordi Mukiele scored his own side (28) with a superb cross from Kevin De Bruyne.
Christopher Nkunku, author of a hat-trick in the evening, scored the first of his three goals just before the break (42) but a penalty from Riyad Mahrez (45 + 1) restored the cushion of two goals. Nkunku was heading home (51) to make things interesting, but a spectacular finish from Grealish five minutes later kept Leipzig at bay.
The Germans, who have lost three of their four Bundesliga games this season, continued to attack with courage and Nkunku pulled off his hat-trick to bring them down to less than one goal.
There was no panic from City as Joao Cancelo pulled off a fine effort just 82 seconds later. The former left-back of City Angelino was dismissed 11 minutes from time and Gabriel Jesus put a little more shine on the score (85).
