CHICAGO (CBS) – A man faces felony charges after shooting an off-duty sheriff’s officer in Millennium Park on Friday night.
Police say Jordan Jackson, 22, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, a one count of unlawful use of a weapon and one count of aggravated assault. use of a weapon in public, no FOCCA/FOID.
Jackson has been identified as the attackerFriday night.
According to Chicago police, at around 7:20 p.m., Jackson refused to be punched at the entrance to Millennium Park on Monroe Street, then jumped a fence.
As security guards approached him, he turned and fired.
An off-duty sheriff’s officer returned fire, hitting Jackson, who ran into nearby Maggie Daley Park and then onto the Riverwalk near Columbus Drive. He was taken into custody after jumping on a nearby party boat.
Firefighters confirmed he was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, the CPD Marine Unit located the weapon used in the shooting.
He is expected on bail on Sunday.
